1. Define Student Personas

Undoubtedly one of the most important marketing strategies is identifying your target students. Defining who you’re trying to sell to will streamline your mission and ensure you’re not wasting your time developing products or services for people who won’t want them. Generate a list of 3-4 “User Personas,” and identify their interests, needs, and desires.

2. Design Lead Magnets

Lead magnets are products such as academic articles and professors' webinars that provide prospective students with information about an academic field. Ask your students to submit their email address to receive access in a popup. Access to valuable materials motivates students to engage with your program, makes you stand out among your competitors, and gives you a way to build an email list targeted towards people who are already interested in your programs.

3. Upgrade Landing Pages

The landing page for your website should be simple and sleek. It should include the essentials (some text, visually pleasing imagery/design, and a call to action button) and little else. Unnecessary details such as links to other areas of the site should be removed to streamline the visitor’s attention. Test your site to see how effective it is at generating leads.

4. Move Towards Video Marketing

Video marketing is a powerful tool for Universities. Thankfully, you don’t need to be an expert to create valuable video content. Webinars and social media livestreams are inexpensive to implement and provide a direct way for you to both engage with leads and establish yourself as a credible source.

5. Repurpose Where You Can

Not all marketers have the resources to constantly create new content, and even those who do can save time and money by repurposing existing content. Create social media posts and infographics out of blog entries, compile posts into ebooks or reports, and republishing updated versions of blog posts.

6. Balance Evergreen and Timely Content

To maximize the effectiveness of your content at generating leads, you need to have a balance of materials regarding current events or trends, and timeless information. The former will entice students for a finite time period, while the latter is less exciting but will continue to attract them longer.
